Ait Mansour

After being settled in one place for almost one week, it was good to be on the move again. We love Tafraout, and it is our Moroccan home.

First stop before travelling out of town was the waste dump. Tafraout has a dedicated area with a layby to do the necessary. Then we topped up on diesel before slowly manoeuvring around the crowds of pedestrians in the road, and away.

Our next stop was in the valley of Ait Monsour. Set in a red rock gorge with palm trees and the river running through.

Great scenery as we drove over the twists and turns of the mountain roads and back down into the valley below.

We parked up under the date palm trees and took a stroll through the gorge, stopping off for coffee.

Before walking back, we sought route advice from the coffee seller, as tomorrow’s route takes us past the gold mine and along the Gold Mine Haul Road. We were uncertain if it was open to traffic, but he assured us it was.
