1 Night
We got our heads down last night, and was straight off to sleep. That was until I heard voices outside and movement on the gravel near to Priscilla. I poked my head out of the bedroom window, and there was a fella guiding a van onto the narrow strip which was our pitch, where we sit outside.
Rather shocked at the goings on I firmly asked him what he was doing. He mumbled something in French and whatever it was it didn’t really matter as he wasn’t parking there. After me shouting “non” several times and setting Priscilla’s alarm off, he decided to leave.
Followed by a midnight cupa as things settled down again an it was back to bed.
We were off to a quick start but it took a while to empty three vans waste, top up water and then get fuel. This aire has a large service area but due to the size of the aire, 180 van capacity, it gets busy.
Next stop, a short drive to Bayeux. We tried the stop over we stayed at in 2022 but it was closed and a new one had opened around the corner, so went there.
Parked up, had a cupa and lunch. We then walked to the War Cemetery, where over 4000 soldiers are burried from WW2, D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy. All very moving and the largest Commonwealth cemetery of the Second World War in France.
From there we strolled around Bayeux town, home of the Bayeux Tapestry, although not at the moment as it’s in the British museum, London. A walk around the impressive looking Cathedral before treating oursevles to coffee and crepes.
It’s still very hot although it keeps promising to rain. Lets hope we have a quieter night tonight, before moving on in the morning.
