Lake Dayet Srij

So we did make it away this morning, but not far. Lake Dayet Sriji, also known as Lake Merzouga, was a 6km drive across the rough, right on the edge of the lake.

We parked up, unsure if we would stay the night, and got a coffee from the back of a car-style coffee seller. It’s even on Google Maps as Cafe Desert. Camping tables, chairs and a sun shade, right at the water’s edge, for you to sit under while you drink your coffee.

We sat and drank our coffees, while watching the flamingos in the lake, and decided we would stay the night. It would be good to experience nighttime by this lake.

After a stroll around and parking recce, we decided on a spot and moved Priscilla into position.

We had lunch on the edge of the lake and sat enjoying the sun. There seemed to be a steady flow of 4×4 tour cars bringing in tourists, followed by a guy on a scooter, selling trinkets. They sometimes tried their luck with us but it was easy enough to have a quick chat, and they were off.

The coffee seller, across the lake, left, and gradually the sun slid behind the mountains in the distance. We had dinner, and soon retreated indoors before it got too chilly.
