1 Night
Last night was a late one, as we finally got to bed around 5am, so we woke up and left late. While Jo got ready, I took the usual walk around the area and stopped by Carrefour for a quick look. That’s when I realised I might have a drinking problem, as I was immediately attracted to the beers and wines.
We hit the road just before noon, heading to another supermarket car park, this time at E Leclerc. The weather was dry and mild but very windy, which made driving a bit challenging. As usual, we took a wrong turn that led us off course and added 20 miles to our journey. The roads are excellent and quiet, although we did have a couple of problems with our Bip n Go tag where the barrier didn’t raise. Soon sorted with a reverse and forward, taking the tag off the windscreen and waving it around. And the second time, Jo had to push the button on the pay machine for assistance.
We arrived just as darkness was falling, and it gets noticeably darker earlier, even a short distance south. We parked up for the night. While having coffee before a walk, we kept hearing a squeaking sound. Thinking we might have a mouse stowaway, we searched around and even considered buying a mouse trap. We checked the shoes in the cupboard but found no sign of mice. Opening the driver’s door, we spotted the source: my water bottle in the door pocket was making a noise as air escaped.
Before dinner, we went into the huge E Leclerc supermarket, which sells everything. The food selection was fantastic, with a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, bread, cheeses, and, once again, I found myself drawn to the beers and wines.
Tomorrow we head for Bordeaux.
