Camping Atlantique

A very wet and very windy start to the morning as we left Plage Blanche for the town of Guelmin before heading further south.

Guelmin has a Marjane supermarket just outside the town, so we stocked up on a few bits and had lunch in the car park before moving on.

This could have all gone horribly wrong just as we entered the town.  The roads were very quiet but flooded, and the wind was blowing a gale.  We were only going slow and just in front of us, a power cable, that you could barely see, had blown down, and was drooping across the road.  It was at a height that cars would go under, but we would have hit it, with rather catastrophic consequences.

We managed to go onto the other side of the road to fit under with the help of a Moroccan guy who had stopped to see us under.

The excitement of the day didn’t end there when we were about 30 miles from our destination, and we got stopped for speeding.  Doing 69 kmh in a 60.  It was a fair cop as we checked the dash cam later. We were chatting, and I wasn’t paying attention.  Cost us 150MAD, about £12.

Weather has perked up, but still blowing a gale, we arrived at Camping Atlantique, in the town of El Ouatia on the coast.

Tonight is the Africa Cup of Nations final with Senegal vs Morocco, so it could be a lively night.
