Red Strand

Last night it was my turn to have the headache and shivers and looked like I might have caught the covid.

Jo slept like a good un and I know this because I was up every hour with pain a headache and the wind whistling through the skylight over the bed. At around 3am, Jo woke and I had paracetamol which seemed to sort things as I went off until 6 ish feeling improved.

Both feeling much better by the time we got up, Jo took a walk on the beach collecting plastic and I filled the van with water. The weather was gorgeous with a warm sun.

We got chatting to couple of local ladies, one who had lived there 50 years and knowledgeable on the area, told us about the school that was washed away by a storm. The other, slightly eccentric lady, in a van with 2 dogs.

A man out for a morning swim shouted out to us there was a conger eel washed up on the beach so we went to look. A sizable beast,  a good 4 foot long which one of the ladies said she would take it home and feed the dogs with 🤢

All this lead to a late breakfast and departure. I also did a covid test which proved to be negative.  Next stop Red Strand Beach, another lovely park up by another lovely beach on a glorious day.

For our next stop, we plan to stay at Charles Fort just south of the town of Kinsale, which is the end the Wild Atlantic Way route.
