Camp Serdrar

There was only one way out of M’Hamid and that was the same road we came in, back to Zegora, which was handy as we needed to sort out additional data with Inwi (phone service provider) for our phones.

We have been in Morocco four weeks now, and it’s all becoming very familiar. Shopping in souks for our veg, buying bread in the small shops, buying 5 litre bottles of drinking water and seeing camels by the roadside.

We easily found a parking spot for the van as we entered Zagora. Something we would even have difficulty at home. Negotiated with the street traders who were trying to sell us a rug after we showed some interest. We want one for the van but it’s a fairly exact size that he didn’t have, but they don’t give up. He said if we followed him a few kilometers, which happened to be the direction we had just come from, he would have one.  We politely declined and made our way to the Inwi shop.

The Inwi shop it a bit like a UK phone shop but its smaller and doesn’t appear to sell phones, and only had one man working in it. On both occasions thay spoke good English, we have been to one in Asilah when we first arrived and now Zagora. After explaining what we wanted and parting with 300 MAD (£24) we had extended our data with another 30gb for an additional month. Well that’s what we thought but Jo appears to only have an additional 6gb and I have gained nothing.

So after a frustrating morning we set off north to a really remote area just outside the town of Tazzerine. Camping Serdrar, run by Ibrahin, at the foot of the mountains that’s supposed to contain fossils. It’s very quiet place, with not even any dogs barking or call for prayer.  Will probably stay here a couple of nights although we have very poor internet connection, which has been very good everywhere up until now.

Tomorrow we will go searching for fossils 🤓
