Reisemobilstellplätze Allweglehen

The weather has been pretty good so far with plenty of sun and very little rain, but last night we had a bit of a downpour, which soon gave way to glorious sunshine by the time we were up and moving.

Our next stop was to take us near to the Kehlsteinhaus — known as the Eagle’s Nest, built in 1938 as a mountaintop retreat above Berchtesgaden during the rule of Adolf Hitler. Constructed as a 50th birthday gift for Hitler by the Nazi Party, the building was intended to impress visiting diplomats and senior officials with both engineering ambition and dramatic Alpine scenery.

We parked up in a beautiful parking space just outside the main campsite, with the Eagles Nest just about in view above in the mountains. It was very hot when we arrived, so we sat in the sun for a while before venturing up a steep hill to the main campsite for a nosey and a drink at their bar.
After our drinks, we wandered around the campsite and even found another Xtura with German plates. So we made our way over for a chat, but it didn’t amount to much, and we went back to Priscilla.
This is a peaceful place, only the birds twittering and the Eagle Nest looking down on us.
