We had a planning meeting this morning, and decided to do a long stretch to Tanger Med Port, to catch the earliest ferry possible.
Sidi Kacem, the town where we stopped last night, was subject to severe floods, a few weeks ago. The town was evacuated, and has only just returned to some normality.
Some of this was evident as we drove out. The sides of the roads had the mud that had been washed over the road, was pilled to the sides.
Once we hit the coast, the journey was on fast toll roads, and we arrived at the port around midday. The earliest ferry available was the 8pm now sailing at 9pm.
We parked up, along with a mass of other vans and cars, and went to get our tickets, but we were turned away and told to return at 5pm.
We had lunch, chat, fiddled around a bit, and it didn’t seem too long before it was almost 5pm, so back to the ticket office, so trundled back we got our tickets.
Next step is customs and get Priscilla x-rayed. This involves driving onto a raised platform, with several other vehicles, everyone gets out, then an adapted truck scanner affair drives along x-raying. They do this to every vehicle sailing. We’re then given the nod, and everyone is back in their vehicle, and drives off.
After a light sniff from a sniffer dog, we proceed around to the waiting area. Where we wait and wait.
And wait.
We sailed at 23.35
Arrived in our park up 03.25 😵💫
