River Nevern Wildfowl Conservation Layby

It was a very stormy night on the Pembroke  coast, Buckspool Farm. It rained all night and extremely windy, so we got rocked about a bit.

After breakfast, we put on our full waterproof walking gear and headed off down the road to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Plan was to get as far as Elegug Stacks then return not forgeting a stop off at St Govens Chapel, as tiny chapel set in the rocks. I came here with my parents in 1976.

The walk takes you through a military firing range and you have to check the red flag isn’t flying before you proceed. It wasn’t but you do wonder if they might have just forgot to put it up 😁

We had our flask of coffee sitting on the cliff edge overlooking the stacks and we ended up going a bit further to the Green Bridge of Wales, the Welsh equivalent to Lulworth Cove. Then took the road way back rather than retrace our steps back.

The return route did feel a bit long winded and we were pleased to get back but the rain mostly held off.

We finished the coffee, filled with water and made tracks for a layby overlooking the river Nevern in Newport.

It turned out to be a really tiny layby but the road seems quiet so we’re here for the night.  Some planning of where we go next after  dinner before the latest episode of Itchy Boots and were all settled in for the night.
