1 Night
An early rise this morning to get ready for Nigel to carry out the work on Priscilla. Just a short drive of a few metres from the field at Cornhill Farm into the barn. After a quick briefing about what goes where with Roger and Nigel, we set off on foot towards Wantage town.
It’s about a two-mile walk into the historic market town of Wantage, nestled at the foot of the Berkshire Downs in the Vale of White Horse. We wandered in and out of all the charity shops, enjoyed a coffee in a cup the size of a bucket, and before long it was time for an early lunch.
Marmalade, a cosy coffee shop selling toasties and cakes, was our choice for lunch. We both went for the soup of the day — tomato and roasted pepper — served with a hunk of sourdough bread. A bit of a stretch for a fasting day, but we’re away, so that was our excuse!
After lunch, we made our way back to Cornhill Farm, where Nigel had almost finished the work. A quick handover, a fill-up of fresh water, and we said goodbye to Nigel and Roger before the very short drive down the road to our park-up for the night.
We’re right up on the Ridgeway, not far from the White Horse, in a gravel car park. Hopefully, it’ll be fine for the night — there’s some passing traffic, but it should quieten down soon.
