1 Night
An excellent night in the lay-by by the lake, quiet, with next to no traffic and we woke to a glorious sunny and still morning.
We had the place to ourselves all night and left as a few cars started turning up. Driving around the lake into the town of Killarney to a self service launderette in a large Tesco. We put the wash on and went into Tosco’s to do some shopping. With a time limit of 30 minutes before the wash had finished, we zoomed around getting to the self service check out at 10.24. Only to discover they don’t sell alcohol until 10.30. So we did a non alcoholic shop, waited a few minutes then zapped through the important items.
Back a the laundry, nearly done but not quiet we put the shopping away then back again and put the laundry in the dryer and waited another 45 minutes. This game is not all beaches and cliff top views.
Washing and shop done we were back on the road and making our way back to the Wild Atlantic Way. On route Jo had found a place to empty our toilet cassette in the town of Kenmare. This turned out to be a rather nice town so we parked up after doing the business and had a walk around perusing the shops before carrying on.
The road out of Kenmare took us back on to the Wild Atlantic Way and onto the Beara Peninsula, where we followed the road along the northern section to our stop for the night.
Just before the town of Kilmakilloge is this small piece of land poking out into bay just off the road with an entrance through two concrete pillars, so a bit tight but very doable.
A gorgeous place especially in the sun with the views out across the bay.
We got the chairs out and sat in the sun until it got too chilly, then went inside with the door open to watch the sun set as we ate dinner. This is well up there on favourite stop of the trip.
