As I lay in bed I watched the sun creep up through the bedroom window this morning, the palm trees creating a silhouette against the sky. It was gone 8 am but still quiet and not fully light yet.
This is a quiet camp with a few vans dotted around, enough to give it a camp atmosphere but not too busy. As always mainly French and no English.
We made our way into town on foot after breakfast. Foum Zguid is a medium size town with no supermarkets only small shops that are kind of set in. We were looking for some sun screen and I thought we’d have no chance. I fact I said to Jo if we find it I would walk through town with my pants in my head. Well guess what, a pharmacy had some and for the some of 150 mad, we had sun cream (£12). I wasn’t impressed at the price or that I had to walk through town with my pants on my head.
We walked further and then nearly got attacked by some wild dogs. Stopped off and bought a Moroccan headscarf that we would use as a curtain in the van to replace the rather mundane one we have. Then stopped off and had a mint tea before buying some bread and milk while discussing the weather with the guy.
We walked back, had lunch and sat in the sun for the afternoon. It’s hot, very hot. I would think in the sun it’s pushing 30 °C, hotter then I thought it would be this time of year.
Tomorrow we push on north to Ait Ben haddou where Gladiator, The Mummy and Game of Thrones was filmed.
