Camping La Palmerei

We left Camp Rimel Tata today with a heavy heart. It is such a special place where it’s magic draws you in. You feel very close to nature here.

Zara and her family welcomed us to what seems to be an extension of their home. Through a mixture of French and English we were able to get to know them a little.  They are the epitome of a true Moroccan family. The most kind and generous of people

Rimal Tata Camp is quiet and peaceful. It’s very simplistic with its offerings. If you want the bustle of a busy campsite and swimming pool, then it’s not for you. An idyllic place to practice yoga on the mats in the desert plains.

Until yesterday, we were the only people staying, then a fellow Englishman arrived. This morning, we were alone again. We said our goodbyes and promised to return and we will.

The drive to Foum Zguid was an easy one, the roads were good, with no mountains to climb over and just the one town of Tissint to drive through. Desert either side of us and mountains ahead, it’s so vast with nothing but dry land and some shrubbery dotted around. The only life we saw was goats and the occasional group of camels. The roads are so quiet we just stopped and took a few photos of three camels eating from trees at the side of the road.

We are now at Camping La Palmerie for a couple of nights after stopping off in the town to get fresh bottled drinking water. Booked another tagine meal at the restaurant for later. Tomorrow we will explore the town more.
