Wankbahn

We were woken by the sound of a helicopter flying very closely overhead, and our first thought was some kind of mountain rescue.  It was very close to where we were parked, and it turned out to be a helicopter taking what looked like supplies to the top of the mountain. Those one-ton sacks and even a collection of beer barrels.

After the chopper commotion, we eventually set off on our way up to the top of the mountain. A long and steep but beautiful path through woods with mountain views, up to the Wankbahn for lunch. Schweinbraten with red cabbage and a potato ball thing deep fried and two white beers, sat overlooking the rest of God’s finest creations in the distance.

We looked out over the ski pistes in the opposite mountains, now green where snow would have layed, trying to imagine how you would get up and down with cumbersome boots and skis.

Lunch finished, we made our way down on the small cable car pods, continually running all the way back to where we are parked up.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sitting outside in the sunshine.

Tomorrow we move on to the very furthest corner of Germany.
