Great night last night at the Railway Social Club car park, nice and quiet. Up at 05.30 for the 08.15 ferry, all ready to leave in the darkness for the 7 min drive to the port. In driving seat, check phone, oh …ferry had been cancelled due to technical issues.
So we slowed things down a bit and decide to have breakfast and drive to the port anyway, even if it is only to rebook. Not a huge port and not that busy but didn’t want to get stuck port side where we couldn’t get out so aborted that idea and drove to nearby supermarket car park. Waited till 8am when Stena phone lines opened and easily got through and re booked for the 19.30 crossing, arriving 23.00 tonight.
We then moved to a parking area by a lake about 15 minutes away to kill some time. Weather good, nice and sunny but wind seems to be getting up 🫤
Left the lakeside around 16.30 for the port where we sat another couple of hours before boarding. Sitting down on the ferry just before 19.00.
The captain has just told us it might be a bit choppy as per my earlier suspicions’ while watching the wind blow over the lake. Our aim is to get off the ferry and drive just around the corner to a park up just outside Fishgaurd for the night.
