Beach Sunday

A few observations about Portugal in the short time we have been here. Oddly enough, it is the same time as UK, so that explains our confusion with all the clocks and watches being different. We thought we had been in some sort of time vortex.  Secondly, you cannot use dashcams so I have removed it while here. Apparently it’s even prohibited to own one. And the police are the GNR, Guarda Nacional Republicana, a paramilitary security force.

This morning we had planned to walk down to the beach but it’s been a wet one so we waited a bit and had a coffee before putting on our walking boots and cagoules and heading off, by which time it had stopped.

It’s a dead straight road past a few shops then some cafes at the end with steps down to the beach. An uninspiring place with no soul but the beach, in a craggy rocky cove was a good sight with huge waves crashing in.

We walked down the steps to the beach, took a few photos and came back up, then walked back.

Feeling peckish we took advantage of the site restaurant and I ordered a pizza with chips and a Super Bock (beer) and Jo Lasagne with red wine, which all went down a treat. We devoured all that then went back in to buy 4 pastel de nata to go with a coffee for when we get back to the van.
