We usually move every couple of days but after yesterday’s trip into the desert we felt like another restful day plus we were having some artwork done on the van.
As always the sound of wild dogs barking can disturb our sleep. Wild dogs are everywhere, roaming in pairs or sometimes packs but never bother us even if we are eating outside they usually sit a respectful distance away and wait. They look fairly healthy, I think tourists often feed then as we have done. We sometimes give the dogs a name and this morning we were joined by two dogs, one of which had a missing front leg so we named him Tripod.
It was market day in M’Hamid and our van artist was coming at 12 so we made a quick visit to buy some veg, bread and a couple Moroccan heat mats for the tagine. Naji the van artist turned up early on his motorbike with a crate of paint and soon set to work on the piece he was painting on the rear door. I have to say I was nervous and felt a bit like having a tattoo. You go in to have a portrait of Elvis on your arm and come out with Donald Trump look a like.
Three hours later and much interest from our fellow campers we had the finished job, which we are happy with and a lasting memory of our time here. At least until we next clean it with the jet washer.
Edit: We grew to hate it as the days went on and the heat made the paint sag where it was so thick. It became an embarrassment which we couldn’t wait to remove once we got home.
