Lagzira Camping

We left Camping La Palmeraie for a relatively short route to Legzira, Sidi Infi. We had seen this huge stone arche that you can walk through at low tide. It was only 80 miles but driving here takes much longer as you negotiate busy towns, come to an almost stop at police checks and the roads are getting mountainous and twisty.

We hoped to get to a gaurdian parking up on the cliff top but there are only 6 places. We were lucky and got a spot with 4 German vans (they of course had the best spots).

The walk down to the beach was a series of steps in true moroccan style, rugged, rough with a good chance of tripping up. We didn’t trip and made it to the beach and walked past cafes, camel rides and quad bikes for hire and up to the arch.

The arch is huge cut in the reddish brown rock with exposed bolders that look like they could fall down. It kind of reminded me of Lulworth Cove in Dorset but other than being an arch in the sea, that was where the similarities end.

We walked back along the beach and had lunch at one of the cafes set up on the sand. We both had fish, unsure of what type of fish it was but the man said it was caught locally at Sidi Infi, which I’m sure it was, and it was nice. The fish came with chips and a coue of twirls of pasta (nice touch) and some veg.

Just the long hike up the steps with a full stomach and we were back at the van for an afternoon of sitting in the sun.

Tomorrow we head east and drive inland to Tafraoute.
