2 Nights

Camping la Palmeraie

It poured down all night and was just easing off as we got up which seems to get later as it doesn’t get light till gone 08.30.

We settled the bill with our French hosts and set off on the 2.5 mile extremely bumpy road at max speed of 15kph. Our route took us towards the city of Agadir, total 140 miles, our longest leg yet. Stopping off for lunch overlooking the Timlalin Dunes where some wild dogs were hanging out so Jo made a bowl from the base of a 5ltr water bottle and gave them water and fed them sausages.

Some amazing views over the Atlantic that does have some huge waves crashing on the rocks.

Fuel is readily available in the towns. The smaller towns have a more basic forecourt, if you can call it that, and is rarely self-service, so I get out unlock the cap and a man fills it up hopefully with Diesel.  We tend to fill up just before or around half a tank, and we were about at that point, so next town we dived into a fuel station.

Nothing here is what we’re used to or what is normal for us. The language is an issue sometimes, then as we pulled in there’s a guy, ever so friendly, asking for a cigarette through my open window then when I told him we don’t smoke, he wanted money or food. A friendly bit of gibberish banter and he smiled and left us alone. At the same time, there’s the small boy that wants “stylo”, pens in French. We gave him a couple if Haribo chews and he was happy with that. Now the best bit …the guy doing the refueling is smoking a cigarette!

We arrived at our next base for 2 nights just inland a bit, in the town of Tifnit. It’s a very nice site and tomorrow we’re just gonna chill by the pool.

And the van really needs a wash now.
