Biberach

We had an excellent night in the car park just below the castle, and the sun was shining when we woke up. Generally, the weather has been excellent so far this trip, and it looks good for the next couple of days at least.

I said, “just below the castle”, but it was a good walk up a steel hill and a fair number of steps before we reached the castle entrance.

Hohenzollern Castle is the ancestral seat of the imperial House of Hohenzollern. The third of three hilltop castles built on the site, it is located atop Mount Hohenzollern. All rather well-maintained and impressive, with magnificent views over the countryside.  After a walk around the outside, we took the tour inside the castle, before having a coffee and a slice of Black Forest gateau in the biergarten.

A walk back down to Priscilla, then set off for the town of Biberach.  Just 50 or so miles, but slow going through some beautiful countryside. The roads here are fantastic, not a pot hole in sight.  The town of Biberach is just south of where we are doing our off-road training, and there happens to be a Lidl here, where we stocked up on supplies.

We parked up for the night at a motorhome service point and night stop for €9, in the middle of the town.
