Tap Fitting

After breakfast, we walked the fifteen minutes into Foum Zguid town.  We were looking for a hose connector for our water filling, as our mixer tap type was getting used more than anticipated and wearing out.

So armed with the fitting in question, we went in search.

Moroccan towns have lots of hardware-type shops, and they sell all types of hose in abundance.  So you would think maybe there was a good chance of getting the fitting we needed.  We went to the first hardware shop, and the young fella said they did not have one, but his boss must have heard this, and he called us back.  The young fella was right, after some debate, they didn’t have one or anything like it.

Next stop was the lavage (car wash), where another young man took us to another hardware shop, where all manner of mad conversation took place.  Arabic from the shopkeeper.  Jo spoke her finest French, and me making woosh noises, imitating the gush of water as the adaptor came off under pressure.  Then one guy seemed to go and get yet another Moroccan guy who spoke better English than me.

Anyway, they didn’t have one, and all this was making my head explode, so we gave up looking.  We have another plan to get one, which will involve going to a supermarket, but it won’t be anywhere near as much fun.

After all that, we needed a coffee, so we sat outside a place called Chez Rachid Sahara, where we had coffee.

Next stop was the vegetable shop, just like hardware, there are plenty of these around.  The amount of fresh veg, knocking around, is amazing.  Then we headed back for a fasting day soup.

Jo did some washing.  I did something, can’t remember what.  And then we spent a good bit of time chatting with some other camp inhabitants.  One couple, from Norfolk, we met in Morocco in 2024.

Tomorrow, we up sticks and move further along the trail.
