After breakfast we made our way back to where rain stopped play yesterday.
The Isla de las Palomas is a small island linked to the town of Tarifa by a causeway, which extends south into the Atlantic Ocean from the town. The island is the southernmost point of mainland Spain and the European continent, only 11 km from the Moroccan coast.
The island itself was temporarily closed so this was as far as we could go.
We turned around and made our way to a cafe selling lovely looking pastries. One covered in chocolate looked particularly inviting so after asking about the usual nut contents for Jo, we got a firm reassurance that these were nut free, by the man behind the counter, who spoke very good English.
We sat down and one bite in the pastry, it was clear that Mr Pastry seller did not know the ingredients of his wares. The chocolate was a hazlenut spread. Particularly lethal in the wrong hands, but luckily all caught in time.
On a positive note, they were rather lovely and it meant I had two.
Later we had a great Christmas Boxing Day dinner, turkey, stuffing, veg, before we settled down to catch up on some TV.
This was actually on a laptop, three episides of Itchy Boots and a Christmas Sewing Bee.
We’ve been here for five nights now and tomorrow it’s time move on.
