Rhug Estate

After our shopping spree in Betws-y-Coed we had dinner in Hangin’ Pizzeria. A place which seemed to be all about Gorillas and we never really understood it, or the association with Pizza and Gorillas but my Pizza was excellent an Jo had an aubergine salad which was equally as tasty.

By the time we finished dinner, it was getting late and dark and we needed to find somewhere to park up for the night. There was a layby just a mile back where we came from so we ended up settling down there for the night.

It was a good night and despite it was close to the road there was little traffic later on, so it was quiet. The only slight annoyance was two incidences of people using their horns as they went past. As annoying as this is I didn’t hear the first one as I was asleep and the second one didn’t wake us as we were already awake.

The forecast for today was rain and rain it did but we set off on foot just a few hundred yards to Swallow falls. On the River Llugwy flowing towards Betws-y-Coed. The name comes from from the fact that the flow of the river is separated by a prominent rock into two streams of water that look like a swallow’s tail.  Today, after so much rain, it was one raging swallows tail.

Back to Priscilla and off on our way just a short distance to Rhug Estate Farm Shop, Bistro, Takeaway, Drive Thru. A rather amazing place where we devoured an equally amazing lunch before spending some time perusing their shop then retreating from the ever persistent rain back again to Priscilla.

An afternoon of reading, watching catch up tv which turned into drinking and further eating.

Tomorrow we head of to Pontcysyllte aqueduct for our final night in Wales.
