The Tour d France hits the town of Le Bourg d’Oisans. We set
off on foot at about 11am on a 6 mile walk to our spot on bend 20. This is the bend the Beefeaters frequent and
we perch ourselves on the wall just past the bend. It was hot, very hot no stop
sun and we had no shade. This is a long wait.
First the wait with just people riding up and the entertainment for the
Beefeaters music and dancing, Then comes
the Caravan. A precession of sponsors
trucks throwing freebies at the crowd.
This is a show in itself, as people do everything possible to grab a
cheap hat or a keyring. Then after a 5
hour wait, at about 17.30 the lead riders come past followed by the Peloton
about 6 minutes later. What an amazing
site this is. We then took the 6 mile
walk back tired and with very little to no water. A tiring but fantastic day.
