The Xtura Tourers

John & Jo’s Travels in their 4×4 Motorhome

About

We are John & Jo, travellers, cyclists and explorers. This blog started as a way of keeping a record of our adventures, the places we visit and the memories we make along the way. It was never really written for an audience, but over the years it has grown into the story of our travels — and we’re very happy for others to follow along.
We started motorhome travelling in 2015 as an extension of our love of cycling — finding interesting places to stay and then getting out and exploring them on two wheels. Our first motorhome was a Swift Bolero 712SB, which we still have very fond memories of.
From there we moved up to a tag-axle 8.6m Dethleffs Globetrotter, taking it over the Alps, through France and Italy, around Scotland and along the length of the Outer Hebrides. We even carried a Honda PCX 125 scooter with us — hanging off the back of the Bolero and later travelling in the enormous garage of the Dethleffs.
We then went in completely the opposite direction and downsized to an Adria Twin Supreme 640 SGX campervan. That opened up a different style of travelling and took us all the way across Morocco to the edge of the Sahara.

Today we travel in Priscilla, our Eura Mobil Xtura 686 4×4 motorhome.

Priscilla has taken our travels in a new direction. We love getting away from the obvious routes, finding remote places, tackling mountain roads and tracks, and having the freedom to stay somewhere simply because we like it.

The Xtura Tourers is the continuing story of those travels — around the UK, across Europe and increasingly further afield.

There’s rarely a fixed plan, and that’s rather the point.
