Veulettes-sur-Mer
Seine-Maritime
Normandie
France
2 Nights
A very wet start to the day at Hornfluer, so a more leisurely depart. So far we have driven all non toll but today we will use the Pont de Normandie bridge, which is toll, and save us driving the long way around the Seine.
Just a relatively short drive again to Veulettes-sur-Mer, right on thd coast. We visited here back in 2022 but stayed in the campsite here. This time we chose the aire, a grassy, gravel area by the promanade just a short walk from a few bars and restaurants.
It was also by the hut that we first sampled Chouffe beer with frites last time we were here, but when we arrived, sadly it was shut.
The rain was just easing as we arrived, and we took a stroll along the prom. It was all very quiet and closed. Maybe the weather or late in the season.
But by the time we walked back, the hut selling beer and frites had its hatch open an was showing signs of life. It was preperaing to open!
We all returned later for beer and frites, the place came to life with music, the sun was out and later a live band arrived, to make a great evening by the sea.
The weather has made a change for the wetter and cooler. Although we have had some warm and sunny intervals.
Our last full day of our trip was spent here in Veulettes, a non drive day. I went for the usual morning stroll to the boulangerie to get get the baguettes. And later all six of us went back to get pastries as I’d seen them on my first visit.
The rest of the day has just been spent lounging around, inside and out between showers.
Tomorrow we have an early start in preparation for the busiest day to return to the UK.
