As usual, all the forcasts of rain didn’t amount to much but it’s certainly chillier here.
The walk into the old town or Medina was a fairly straightforward one out of the campsite, along the cemetery and through an archway and you are there. The first thing that hits you is all the houses are painted a pale blue and there’s lots of steps.
Then you get further in and there are many shops selling gifts a rugs and leather goods. We were still looking for a small rug for the van so went in one rug shop. I have the sizes and the guy started to pull out rugs from his huge stock. Before long the floor was covered in small rugs but none to our size. We started to give up but he didn’t and took us to his “brothers” shop where more rugs started to cover the floor. Theses sellers don’t give in because they want to make a sale but it wasn’t to be and we thanked them for their efforts and left.
We were getting hungry and found this smart looking place to eat but after sitting for a few minutes left and went to a far less smart place where we had chicken in a baguette with chips. We also ordered a coffee but this place only did cold drinks so the owner ordered a coffee from another shop across the street.
After lunch we walked back to the Medina and retraced our steps along the narrow streets of blue every now and again a discrete whisper in my ear of “you want hashish” or sometimes a less discrete approach, when I would inform them the errors of their ways and the health impacts of smoking 😁
The afternoon was spent under the shade of the trees around us planning our next steps. Our time here in Morocco is coming to an end.
