First off a couple of corrections to make. The  neighbours mentioned yesterday where German not Dutch.  Second, the milage on the front screen of our tour is well over. Currently says, 6370, but its only around half that.

Back to today. We had to get up early to meet Abdullah, the tour guide for the underground old village of Icht. Early meant we were meeting him at 10am.

Our party consisted of two French couples, who were travelling together, us and Abdullah the guide.

We met at the camp entrance and Abdullah led us off on our tour, followed by the French then us.

Abdullah, spoke first in French and then played Google’s English translation through a portable speaker device.

After walking through several alleyways, he led us into this tunnel like corridor. It was dark but we were told to bring torches.

The construction is is of mud and straw on the walls, with ceiling joists made of date palm logs. Some looked a bit worse for wear.

He took us to his grandfather’s house. Who had two wives, and each wife had a floor of her own. If only he had of had more floors 😀.

There was a tiny room as a kitchen, with a stove that looked as though made from mud. And then up on to the roof terrace overlooking the village.

There was also an ancient mosque, and he explained the rules of prayer, and that praying in the mosque earnt 27x more rewards than praying alone.

The end of the tour stopped outside his house, where he invited us in and served us mint tea with bread, honey and olive oil.

He began to explain about life in Morocco, generslly its hardshops, which again he used his speaker and Google translate. The two French couples were able to interact with more but it was difficult for us, and it would have been interesting to question further.

He led us back to the campsite and it was hot.  I think we got up to 26.5°C. We put another wash load on then sat outside enjoying the sun.
