1 Night
We woke to our first rain since arriving in Ireland and had breakfast overlooking an overcast lough Conn, then topped up with fresh water before moving on.
We hadn’t driven far before the roads were dry and heading for Downpatrick Head. Named after Irelands patron saint St. Patrick and is the location of one of Irelands most photographed cliff top. It also has a superb newly laid carpark which we did consider staying the night but for the sign that said the road out was closed tomorrow due to works.
The sea stack, Dún Briste was once joined to the mainland. Standing 45 metres (150 feet) tall. The walk up to view the stack is along a shear cliff face with no barrier or fence so you can get as close to the edge as you dare. The stack itself is pretty impressive, separated of the mainland in 1393 after a huge storm.
We then made our way towards the Town of Bellmullet were we parked for the night on the quayside at a free continental style aire, next to the fishing boats and walked into to town for a Sunday roast with the locals in a pub.
