Portree Campsite

We left the Outer Hebrides on the 11.40 ferry from Tarbet to Uig on Skye. We felt sad. I had studied this place for months, years, with interest. I knew it well before I’d arrived. A land without trees, amazing golden beaches, rusty wrecked vehicles, sheep, smell of burning peat, friendly people, quiet, isolation.  Out next stop was going to be in Sligachan but first stopping off in Bayfield West Car park and get some supplies. We needed water and we knew there wouldn’t be any available in Sligachan as the campsite there is closed. After a quick look on Searchforsites we chose to go to Portree Camping just down the road.  This turned into a discovery of a great site and we ended up staying three nights.
